We acknowledge the support given to the Festival each year by local community groups, particularly the Busselton SES and the Busselton Volunteer Marine Rescue Group.

The State Emergency Service (SES) is a volunteer-based division of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services. We assist the community by:

• Raising, training and equipping a volunteer-based emergency service.

• Being the “Hazard Management Agency” for flood, cyclone, storm, earthquake and tsunami.

• Being the “Combat Authority” for land search, vehicle rescue, cliff and cave rescue and civil defence.

• Support the police in tasks acceptable to the volunteers except where offenders will be present.

The Busselton Volunteer Marine Rescue Group is a volunteer organisation dedicated to safety at sea and our core function is rescuing people who get into trouble at sea. We urge the boating fraternity to ensure their safety equipment is working and they are fully conversant with the rules and regulations concerning boat safety. Each year we give on-water assistance with regattas, outrigger races, the Busselton Jetty Swim, IronmanWA, Festival activities and whale rescues.
